What happens if you don't pay a paypal invoice?

I submitted a form to purchase an item. I was never redirected to a check out or anything. I just received an e-mail detailing my item description and saying an invoice would be sent. I got a paypal invoice 5 days later- during that time, out of frustration, I researched complaints on the company and discovered an unsettling amount of negative reviews. I now believe the company to be shady and untrustworthy and I have no interest in paying this paypal invoice. What are the repercussions for not paying the invoice? Can this effect my credit or will paypal withdraw the funds from my account or on file credit card?
